About making waves: art on the island

This year marks the 3rd annual summer auction hosted by Sunbury Shores. The summer auction is Sunbury Shores’ largest annual event to support arts & nature in the community, while raising funds to sustain Sunbury Shore’s outstanding programs and exhibitions. This year’s auction is called Making Waves: Art On The Island, as a tribute to the exceptional contemporary artists Sunbury Shores attracts.

Bigger and better than ever before, this auction will be a ticketed, curated event showcasing select work by 20 exceptional contemporary Canadian artists in the beautiful venue of the Van Horne Estate on Ministers Island.

About Sunbury Shores

Sunbury Shores Arts and Nature Centre was founded by Mrs. Eidlitz over 50 years ago, to create real opportunities for people to appreciate the connection between art and nature.  The centre is located in the heart of St. Andrews by-the-Sea, New Brunswick, established in 1783 and considered Canada’s premier historic seaside resort.

The centre’s 6,000 square feet provides two galleries for exhibitions, studios for painting, drawing, printmaking, jewelery & metalsmith, pottery and other art and nature programs. The centre is open year-round and offers programs to support the local community, the region’s schools, summer residents and visiting artists coming to the area primarily from across Canada and the Eastern US seaboard.

TAKING PLACE ON THE BEAUTIFUL MINISTERS ISLAND.

Ministers Island is an enchanting place to experience. Lying just off the shore near St. Andrews, New Brunswick, Canada, this 500-acre island is only a part-time island. You reach it by driving over the seafloor approximately one kilometer (1/2 mile).

Once there, you are immersed in an experience from the late 19th and early 20th century - the summer estate of Sir William Van Horne, the driving force behind the Canadian Pacific Railway.
